pretty sure most ladies on this site think they know who i'm going to write a relationship poem for......surprise!
ReplyDeleteBUNNIES IN THE PARK
they mostly come out after dark
to nibble my carrots and have a lark.
all animals trust me
they know i wont hurt them
even insects never give me their sting
nuts for miss tippy toes the squirrel, i bring
and get the seagulls their pie tea
still plotting how to get a soggy cow on the train
and get her back to my flat
i need the company, in the rain
though i do have my pet wharf rat.
definitely not what I expected. love it! a wonderful relationship poem!
Deletesometimes straight up on the screen is the only way to go sometimes....don't think i wasn't temped to bring a certain sammie hamster in to it, but i erazed the third verse...phew!!! you think i could get a cow on the train if i bought her a raincoat and some dark glasses? - love and bunnies - paul.
DeleteLOVE IT!!! Thanks for this sweet poem about you and your creatures.
DeleteOh my!!!! Good job!!! I truly enjoyed this poem...
Deletei love all my animal friends tash. it's just the semi evolved monkeys that give me grief - getting my ducks in a row - paul.
Deletethanks wolfie. it's three rats actually that live in the shed behind my house and live in my old towels with sausages i throw them. think they are breeding....uh - oh! - how are the wild woods today? - love - paul.
Deletethe wild woods are pretty peaceful. we had some guys out chasing a coyote the other day but, we decided that we won't let them out again because we don't want any killing going on out here on this land.
Deleteyou sound like a wild west woman in this reply wolfie ( too many w's in that sentence, perhaps ha ha )- love and cowgirls - paul.
Deletethe relationship between the cats and me
ReplyDeleteis oh! so very plain to see
they all know who's the boss
a fact over which we do not gloss
the alpha mom is my place
a position I fill with aplomb and grace
they allow me this as long as I understand
the cats rule - I'm just here to open the cans
my hound dog knew she was the boss. the endless spinning, knocking me in to the pond and attacking from ambush when i came back from the shops proved that. oh, and the sneezing in my face to wake me up for her breakfast. spent half my life covered in hound snot - puurrrrsssss - paul.
DeleteVery cute! You do love your cats, wish our landlord wasn't anti pet.. Oh well, maybe someday.
DeleteYes, I can certainly relate with being the opener of the cans!!! My cats know where the cans are!!! Great imagery in this poem. I could see the cats and the cans, Alpha mom!!!
DeleteI Love Trees
ReplyDeleteMy favorite things in nature
sends their branches to the sky
and call to me with dancing joy
to seek to draw my eye.
I climbed them as a youngster
and spent my hours there
reading books and writing
poems in the air.
My dad was a horticulturist
who cared for many trees
I love the ones around me
and hug them when I please.
I love to watch the trees dance in the wind! beautiful poem!
DeleteI am a tree hugger. I loved the imagery in this poem. You did a good job.
DeleteThanks to you both.
Deletewrote a poem once called " some of my best friends are trees ". still true. i could tell you a story about taking L.S.D. and sitting in a tree, listening to the beatles, but you are too young for that stuff ha ha - love and peace - paul.

ReplyDeleteTime is short, as is poem, becaue Granddaughter Rose is arriving soon, wanted to post to be sure to have one in today.
ReplyDeleteI had a good relationship
ReplyDeletewith both my grandpas
and I loved them very much
I taught my grandpa Julio
how to read in English
he used to kiss me on my ear
it tickled me all over
we walked to church together
on Sunday morning at eight
after church we went to his room
I hung over his shoulder
while he read a cowboy book
he read out loud and I helped
him with the hard words
my Grandpa James P. had whiskers
they felt like a brillo pad
when I kissed him on the cheek
but I didn't mind
I would have kissed
that cactus face all day
if only I had the chance
both of them are gone now
I wish I could see them again...
Lovely and loving, I miss my grandmothers, I never knew either grandfather. Lucky you!
DeleteWe only knew one grandmother and she died when I was 12.
Deleteall my grandparents and father were dead by the time i was twelve, so i can only imagine this. sounds nice though - love and peace - paul.
Deletenice tribute to our grandfathers
ReplyDeleteThey were both such dear, sweet, gentle men...
