For today’s prompt, write a moment poem. The moment could be this very moment in time. Or pick a moment from your past and dive into it. It could be a huge moment or event in your life (or the life of another). Or you could share a small, private moment–like a walk at night or solitary adventure.
Remember: These prompts are just springboards; you have the freedom to jump in any direction you want. In other words, it’s more important to write a new poem than to stick to the prompt.

Plain view
ReplyDeleteA
plain view
as I rock here
watching the fluttered dance of
orange and black butterflies.
A
bluejay.
I hear bird song.
Desperately I look up
looking for movement in trees.
A
loud truck
stopped to unload.
The neighbors landscaper crew
littering the soundscape. bzzzzzz
A
white cloud.
What did I learn?
Cumulus? Cirrus? Stratus?
Mesmerizing morphing shapes.
A
airplane.
Flight Aware app
says the container above
is Vermont to Atlanta.
A
tree line.
A warm breezy
wind passing through forcing the
trees to perform a sweet dance.
A
baby.
Innocently
asleep cradled in my arms
as I observe the plain view.
Lovely imagery.
DeleteThanks for writing. It took me away , drew me into its cascade of fleeting moments.
DeleteYes, beautiful and soothing.
DeleteThank you.
DeleteThat moment
ReplyDeletewhen you realize
why your mother
had two tall cabinets
of canned goods.
Oh yes!!!
DeleteLol. Good one.

ReplyDeleteI seem to have nothing
ReplyDeleteto say today
The stark news says far too much.
We are all
waiting, breathing.
Hoping for a moment
when the dying stops
the masks removed
And we are face to face again.
watching the news is too depressing for me, so I work on my tasks and read what I like and write poetry...at least once a day for April.
DeleteAgreed.
DeleteYes, I agree. And I have a terrible tendency to keep the news on when I'm doing other things. I need to stop. Poetry-wise, I have to say that although I normally would not like so many "ing"s in such a short poem, but somehow this works, making the "waiting, breathing / Hoping" take longer with each breath.

Yes. The words also bring peace. I found myself reading it over several times as if each reading was a breath.
DeleteThanks, I wrote it as it came, then arranged it to fit.
DeleteI agree with the others. It made me inhale and measure my breath to be equally in and out. Great "little" poem.
DeleteThanks, Victoria glad it did that.
DeleteThe words calm and the form somehow too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, that was the intention.
