Joy

From Tasha:

What brings you Joy? Happiness is different from joy, which can come from a variety of sources, and is not always connected with "something nice." Joy is a very different emotion and one it can be fun to explore.

  1. My space ship has crashed
    on an alien planet
I have 4 gallons of water
    and very little food
I know that I must die
Even so, the will to survive is strong
    so I walk
    I trudge this salt planet
on what seems to be a road
I struggle to carry my supplies
    upon my weary back
    onward do I journey
    my lips are shriveled
    my tongue burns
I now have very little water left
    and no food
    yet I stumble forward
    I realize I am breathing
    cool air
    from where?
    I turned toward the breeze
    Over a rise
    some trees appear
    like an animal, I smell
    water...
    I run, stumble, fall,
    crawl, run some more
fall face first into the cool water
    I taste it
    it is good
where there is water, there is food,
    I feel...JOY

  2. JOY

when I was a little boy I think I had joy
I had my toys and awe at life's choices for me
now that I'm older I have new joy
every time a new child joins our family

to me joy is essential for my life to have meaning
we must be aware of our contented being
I will always have faith, another type of joy
it's so important for us not to destroy

we all have dreams, we have our desires
I hope you find joy for it's what life requires
may you find your own joy and keep it close
just remember to love with extra an extra large dose

  4. Joy

Joy is a taste of salt upon the tongue,
an ocean wave that splashes in your face,
a sense of being where you know your place,
a thrill that makes you feel forever young.
Joy is a keynote playing through my years.
I’d feel it when I made my mother smile
or with success passed some important mile,
or saw a rainbow shining through my tears.

Joy is a gift that comes unbidden still
it may be found atop a hard climbed hill.
It’s not a goal that ever can be sought,
nor yet a skill that someone can be taught.
I wish you every joy your heart can bear
and more whenever you can find it there.

  5. I feel strongly this can be improved and can use suggestions as to what might be good. Not so much about the structure, though that's OK too, but more concerning content. Thanks friends..
