  1. RED WHITE AND BLUE GIRL

is she red, is she white
is she blue and promised to the night
    she's red in the summer
    white in the winter
    when she's blue, she's a hummer
when she's drunk, she goes grrrrrrrr

    when she's alone, she cuts
more red, to churn my guts
    doesn't really understand anything
her life was always black and white
just the money, sex and the bling
told me 90% of her life was blue and shit

    5. thanks vic. i sometimes have a tendency to do that. start off quite optomistic then, then get all emotional in the second, or third verse. gonna have to watch that - love and peace - paul.

  2. Red, white and blueberry pancakes
    celebrate the Fourth of July
later on hot dogs and burgers
    and homemade apple pie.
We salute our flag of freedom
    sweet land of liberty
    this is my America
    my land of opportunity.
Some may hold you in contempt
    for standing strong and free
but you are the only place
    the only land for me.
    We have our troubles
    but they are few compared
    to other countries
    who's cowardice we have bared.
So I hold these truths self evident
you are the greatest land of all
Red white and blue shall reign
and Americans stand brave and tall.

Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…" - Winston Churchill.

  3. FLAGS OF FORTUNE

the red white and blue flew
    in to battle
    men slaughtered like cattle
to protect the interests of international banks
so they could finance big business
    to build more tanks
    what a stupid bloody mess

society? a thing of the past
somehow i knew it wouldn't last
miss helen " gaffa " gaffney opened my eyes
a bloody white cocaine head, of twenty five
    year old in blue
she said " i'll do anything, as long as it's not lies "
    not my flag
but.....maybe if she could be true
you ever feel you are in that stephen king story about a time lag

" no one you can save, that can't be saved " all you need is love - the beatles.

in this country you can critisize the red white and blue and the government
just don't critisize the beatles and the music they sent.

thanks guys and gals i love this site - pau

    1. I'll take Bonnie's word for the connection between the stanzas because I see none.

    2. War is so built into us, alas, if only we'd wake up and realize what a waste it is. Good sense is not poplar.Interesting poem.

    3. there is no connection vic. it's like three poems in one again. like the three colours.....and i couldn't help myself from putting the beatles in. wish i could have worked a yellow submarine in there somehow - love and peace - paul.

  4. on first read it seems disconnected but really the battle is still going on whether in a war of soldiers or a war of people trying to get through life

  5. the battle never ends bonita. whether it is against nazi's, commies, air pollution, deforestation, climate change or the damn people next door - we all have our red white and blue battles to fight - love and blues - paul.

  6. I don't think I'm going to get my poem finished for this week, but the prompt inspired me to attempt a poem I've been procrastinating. I'm updated some YA novels I wrote a couple decades ago, and in the one I'm working on the girl gets involve in slam poetry. A boy in her English class competes in slams and helps her. The boy's slam poem in the original was rather political and of course, dated. I started writing that poem using "Red, white and blue". I'll post it whenever I finish it, but I have a tournament this weekend so it won't be on time.

  7. Red White and Blue Perfection

Red are her cheeks, blue her eyes,
    white as snow her hands:
    perfect beauty for fairy tales.

Blue are the skies, red the leaves,
    white are the clouds above:
    perfect day for fall.

Red is for courage, blue for truth,
    white for pure of heart:
    perfect hero/ine.

Red is for straw or raspberries,
Blue for blueberries, white for cream
    perfect for summer.

Red, white and blue is our flag,
    flying high against the skies
    perfect vision of the USA.

Red white and blue is delicious,
    sentimental, powerful,
    perfect for a poem.

    1. love it! yes red white and blue stands for many things and as you said is delicious, sentimental, powerful... good job!

    2. Love it all except one word and the last stanza. hero/ine is distracting. Women are generally called heroes these days, like women now refer to themselves as actors. And the last stanza. All the others are vivid images, and actually keep the poem from being sentimental, just powerful. But IMMHO, telling us that it's "sentimental, powerful" makes it sentimental and less powerful.

    3. Thanks for the comments, I wasn't sure it worked as a poem, so thanks for the support. I had a hard time coming up with a conclusion, Victoria, so ht was how I tried to end it. Love any suggestion you might have.
