Weather

Prompt from Tasha:

"Everyone talks about the weather but no one can do anything about it." So for this week, please write anything you like about the weather or weather in general or in particular.

  1. Been awhile since I've written a song, but this prompt just calls out for the blues... Stormy Weather...

Stormy weather oh there's stormy weather ahead
    fists flying, voices lying,
    hear those children crying
    too many fish a frying
oh yeah stormy heading our way

    Stormy weather in the sky
    Can't run can't hide
    inside outside
    they say someone died
because we got stormy weather today

    Oh yeah stormy weather brews
    He's gotta pay his dues
hear the horns blowing the blues
    yeah someone's gonna lose
'cause we got stormy weather today

    the coop he flew it
Oh yeah we've all been through it
    said he didn't do it
    but everybody knew it
'cause stormy weather had it's say

Stormy weather oh yeah that dark stormy weather
gonna come oh yeah it's gonna come this way...
    look out! here it is!

HMMMM RAINY WINDY AND COLD AGAIN

" the day it rained forever " - ray bradbury.

we know all about weather in england
    always wet and rarely tanned

we don't have air conditioning too
'cos we never know what the weather is gonna do

you never know how to dress
you go out and it's cold
that's the story the weather man told
two hours later, it's hot and i'm a sweaty mess

trying to talk to library ladies, with rain dripping off my hat
on to the lovely charlottes desk and all that.

"letting the days go by, there is water underground " -once in a lifetime - talking heads.

"the rain falls hard on a hum drum town " - the smiths.

    take care everyone - paul.

    MORE DAZZLING THAN THE SUN

    it's always a sunny day
    when she smiles my way
makes my mental clouds go away

the wind and rain no longer matter
she makes me crazier than a hatter
every day i have to say
behave and keep yourself at bay

but when she walked in from the rain
i just wanted to towel her hair and take her on a warm train

a sunny day when she laughs at my jokes
th th th th that's all folks.

" good morning sunshine " - the beatles.

  5. The weather of the heart

Blaise Pascal said the heart has its reasons
    that reason knows not of
I say its weather report tells all
No need to read between the lines
    Or seek for logic.

Does the rain fall logically or where it will?
    Thunder frightens small children,
so does anger thundering from lips
speaking from a heart of pain,
    Pierced over again.

Sunny days bring smiles to face and heart
    despite whatever lurks ahead.
    There's nothing to dread
on a sunny day, or even a cloudy one
    with a rainbow umbrella.

How are you today? A weather report please.
Is it chilly or warm for you now?
    Disappointment clouds vision, gratitude
clarifies skies and blends joy into sorrow,
    making peaceful hearts.

i loved thunder when i was a child. my dog jessica used to jump in to my arms and have to be put to bed however. i explained it was just a random discharge of electricity as high and low pressures met...but she didn't believe me ha ha - love and peace - paul.

  6. A slightly different take on my theme, been turning it over in my mind all week. This next one is actually a song lyric I wrote a great many years ago.

  7. Feelings

Feelings are a wind upon the heart
blowing it like leaves upon a tree
    and sometimes the rustling whispers
and sometimes it shouts out loud
yet the feelings are a message sent to me.

Does the wind feel warm and gentle,
does the wind feel rough and cold?
oh my heart be still and listen
    to the message being told.

Feelings are an ocean deep within
    washing through my being endlessly
    and sometimes the rustling whispers
and sometimes it shouts out loud
yet the feelings are a message sent to me.

Do the waves engulf my senses
so that I can’t see or hear?
Oh my heart be still and listen
let the waters wash me clear.

Feelings are a music in the soul
played upon the strings of memory
and sometimes the notes are lovely
and sometimes they‘re hard to hear
yet the feelings are a message sent to me.

Does the tune reflect a wisdom
that I need to hear and know?
Oh my heart be still and listen
and just let the feelings flow.

Feelings are the fingers plucking out
notes of joy or longing to be free
and sometimes the song is happy
and sometimes the song is sad
yet the feelings are a message sent to me.

For the reasons do not matter,
and the message is the whole,
oh my heart be still and listen
to the song within my soul.

  10. Weather,
It's stormy today, it won't go away
Damn ,it looks like its going to stay
The rain keeps on coming inexorably down
if it continues this way I'll surely drown

I"s way too hot out for my constitution
and the air is too thick with this damn pollution
it's still and muggy and I cant get my breath
This type weather will certainly be my death

Oh burr, its so freaking cold out right now
the snow is so heavy it broke a pine bow
The warmth went away and its not coming back
Things went all wonky and came off of the track

Now the breeze is gentle and caresses my face
The sun fills my soul with revitalizing grace
This is a day when the weather gives us hope
For a comforting venue to help us to to cope
