Reality Salon Sale!!

I almost didn't do this because Bonnie did a "use these words" prompt last week. But I've been waiting since my last prompt to do this, so I said, "What the hell." This screenshot if from a game Bonnie and I play called Puzzly Words.  You get 16 letters and have to make 3 words. You compete against other people online. Sometimes I get the urge to rearrange my words because they sound more like a poem. So I thought I'd screenshot one that worked and use it as a prompt.

So for this week, choose at least THREE words from among the 11 here (because of one duplicate) in your poem. Here's the list in case you can't see the picture:
  • reality
  • salon
  • sale
  • solitary
  • lean
  • trolley
  • saline
  • aas
  • lastly
  • raise
  • alone

  1. REALITY SALON SALE

    --Going out of business

A special here on climate change--
Now, granted, you may think it strange,
If you're a polar bear, or folks
At sea level, that it's a hoax.
We're moving out these voting rights
(But hey, they're still OK for whites).
We're clearing shelves so we can usher
Our new fall line, marked Made in Russia.

  3. If captured, eat this poem,
    torn into word-sized bites.
    Secret information,
    it could condemn you. If

    torn into word-sized bites,
    Eat all the words alone.
    It could condemn you if
    found in your possession.

    Eat all the words alone,
    but memorize them first.
    Found in your possession,
    words can be dangerous.

    But memorize them first.
    Democracy. Freedom.
    Words can be dangerous
    when used to declare war.

    Democracy. Freedom.
    What do words mean? Nothing
    when used to declare war.
    Dead soldiers are not free.

    What do words mean? Nothing
    for the dead civilians.
    Dead soldiers are not free.
No more words for them, nor

    for the dead civilians.
    Life. Liberty. Pursuit.
No more words for them, nor
love. Peace on earth. Good will.

    Life. Liberty. Pursuit
    of Happiness. Free speech.
Love. Peace on Earth. Good will
    To All People. But what

    of happiness? Free speech,
now a thing of the past
    to all people. But what
is there? A word to speak?

Now a thing of the past,
    the new reality.
Is there a word to speak?
    Cannot raise our voices.

    The new reality:
    we cannot speak our minds,
    cannot raise our voices.
Must be passed ear to ear.

    We cannot speak our minds.
    Secret information
must be passed ear to ear.
    If captured, eat this poem.

  4. free speech is fine in principle, until you actually try and use it. then the cops turn up ten minutes later. they had great fun breaking up our political meetings - life, liraries and the persuit of something or other - love and peace - paul.

  5. eerrr slightly misunderstood and used all the words except aas. i'll behave next time.....probably ha ha.

    TICK TOCK ( part 11 )

    what is reality anyway?
i raise in a glass house
but can't help in solitary throwing the odd stone
    maybe why i live alone
the salon of bitter saline solitude is where i live

hmmmm how do i sneak out a rat that obviously isn't a mouse?
lastly remember that love isn't for sale
    stay hungry. stay lean
i'm a little weak and pale
but jacqui my ex trolley dolly knows what i mean.

    2. The prompt was to use AT LEAST 3 words so you followed it beautifully. I usually try to use all the words but didn't this time. Fun poem too.

    3. getting ms ratty out might be the trickiest bit. she can pee on my clothes, but a suitcase that goes " eeeek! " is a little suspicious. think i could dress her up as a hamster ha ha - love and peace - paul.

  6. The solitary man stands alone
watches as crowds push and shove
enter and leave the trolley car
before it continues on it's route
always the same track heading nowhere.

    Bored faces all the same
whether decked out in fancy suits
    or torn jeans and t-shirts
they all hang on for dear life
always the same track heading nowhere.

At the end of the day they return
    to sad humdrum lives
eat dinner, watch tv, go to bed
get up next day to catch the trolley
always the same track heading nowhere.

    The solitary man stands alone...

    1. I love this! Is it a particular form? And I love the way the last line stands alone, just like the solitary man.

    2. no I wanted the last line to imply the circle of sameness going around and around day after day

    3. Duh... I don't know how I missed that. Rereading the poem, it's obvious. It just felt so solitary all on its own I missed the bigger picture.

    4. There is a lot of alone and solitary in that list, I found myself playing with the same but you did such a good job I'll ditch mine and come up with something new. Good Job!

  7. Lastly I hover
    solitary in my dream
    reality bites.

    Check at the salon
    reality is for sale
    a two for one deal.

    But wait, the trolley
    serves another dimension
    escape while you can.

  9. I love nonsense poems because they actually make so much sense while making the reader smile. I especially like the second verse.
