ReplyDeleteIt's Time
On the face of the antique clock
it's always the hour of four
the time is correct just twice a day,
And the rest of the time it's not the way
that it was once before.
This antique clock once ran
with the rest of the timely flock
thought it wasn't a chimer
it served as a timer
this pretty old antique clock.
It's an ornamental clock
and it never needs to be wound,
stalwart and stable
it sits on my table
never making a sound.
Over and over again
it maintains its steady pace,
the hands do not budge
for they do not trudge
around its silent face.
Yet there's more to this clock than that
for its lesson is plain to see
the present moment here to stay;
regardless whatever the time of day
the clock serves a purpose for me.

Nice. Reminds me of an old song my mom used to sing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCFXhn9mMB0

ReplyDeleteTime to, Time too
ReplyDeleteWhat is it time to do
is it time for me and you
let's make time for you and I
There's things to do that are new
we don't need to kill time
and we don't need to waste time
We need to use time wisely, too
There are adventures to be had
there are times to be glad
and times to feel sad, too
when you're feeling blue
take the time to realize
take the time to think
there's time for everything
sadness doesn't last
it goes into the past
as time moves on
enhanced by time to
live and love and live time, too.
Nice poem, you put it so well. Time is so fun to play with. Thanks for this!
DeleteLovely rant, could go well with an open mic group, I can hear it as spoken word and it is thrilling. A truly rap rap.
